Are you sitting down? Because when you hear this, you’re going to be shocked.
12.6 million adults in the UK lack basic digital skills.
…just let that sink in for a second.
That means that something like one in five Brits still struggle to use the internet or send an email without help.
Wow. That’s pretty worrying.
To help bridge this horrifying skills gap in Yorkshire, Digital Skills HQ are teaming up with in2wrk, one of the best-known providers of adult training in the north of England.
From Autumn, the DSHQ team will start to deliver IT training through in2wrk. Why? Because equipping people with practical computer skills is something that Digital Skills HQ believes in wholeheartedly.
Whether you’re a complete computer novice looking to gain life-enriching skills, a tradesperson with an interest in promoting your services online or someone who wants to learn the theory behind making money using the internet – this new digital course is totally for you.
The programme lasts for two full weeks (Monday-Friday, 9-5) and includes all of the online and computer basics, internet and email tuition and a pretty comprehensive introduction to digital marketing. In fact, the Level 2 course in Digital Marketing & Social Media looks at SEO, Mobile Technology and various social media platforms, among other things.
The really great thing about these digital courses is that anyone would benefit from them; especially now that 90% of all jobs are said to require at least a base-level knowledge of computers.
If you’re one of the people that likes to keep your workplace skills razor-sharp, take the course. But if you’re not one of those people – what’s wrong with you?! Digital is the future, so if you don’t want to get left behind, you need to stay ahead of the rest.
